This Art Ross CCM puck signed by
players on the 1948-1949 Portland Eagles Hockey Club was originally
a promotion for the "Bernie Cantor Film Club" in Portland. The
inscription on the box states "Compliments of Bernie Cantor Film
Club of Oregon". The puck is signed by the following Portland
Eagles players:
Sandy Milne, Tom Karakas, Johnny Horvath, Albert Shewchuk, Walter
Hnatiuk, Frank Davis, Harold "Nick" Bangay.
Pat Desbiens scored 50 goals that
year and his nickname was the "Hat Trick King" due to his
prolific goal scoring ability. Tommy Karakas also played the
entire 70 games in goal that season and finished with a
respectable GAA of 3.37 with 3 shutouts.

Puck |

 |
This second Art Ross CCM puck signed by
players on the 1948-1949 Portland Eagles Hockey Club may have
originally also been given away as a promotion for the "Bernie
Cantor Film Club" in Portland, however it did not come with the
box, so I cannot state that as fact. However, there seems to be
an attempt to get all the team signatures on to the second puck,
that did not make it on to the one above.
This puck is signed by the following Portland
Eagles players:
Doug Carrigan, Alex "Sandy" Milne, Frank Davis, Hugh Sutherland,
Pat Desbiens, Johnny Savicky, Rudy Bobrosky and Johnny
Horvath.
